Founder Stuart Pedersen started in a simple way, by helping his father irrigating strawberries with galvanized steel pipe. By 1960 use of aluminum for both irrigation and frost protection was becoming quite widespread. In 1970 Gary Frost started working for Great Rivers Irrigation. In 2009 Great Rivers Irrigation moved to their new building at their present location and Gary purchased the business from Stuart Pedersen.

Our Business

In the 50+ years since the beginning of the company in 1960 we have seen both the company and the state of water application devices change dramatically. It began with galvanized steel that was tremendously heavy. Major new advances then came in the form of light weight aluminum pipe and now advancing to high density polyethylene pipe that is buried underground.

When we look back at these devices from today's perspective they don't seem very high-tech but they saved alot of back breaking labor carrying pipe in the fields.
